What is the PTO?

PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, consisting of parents/guardians and teachers working together to support and enrich all students. Our objective is to provide Root with funds, programs, resources and services that will maximize the education of every child and benefit the school.

How do I join?

Every Root parent, staff member and teacher is automatically a member of the Root PTO! We encourage every PTO member to become more involved. Fill out the Volunteer Interest Survey to help us find the right fit for you.

Top reasons to get involved

The number one reason to join the PTO is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTO advantages:

  1. Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

  2. Tap into a Network. PTO functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

  3. Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTO, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.

  4. Speak Up. PTO can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

  5. Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Our PTO plays an important role by fundraising for curriculum-based programs and social/family events.

  6. Be a Role Model. By getting involved with the PTO, you’ll demonstrate to your child the importance you place on education.
